Why not drive or fly
by airlines? Well sometimes these are better ways to
travel. BUT There are many times when MidWest Missionair can do a better job. Days and sometimes weeks after the
disaster, roads are closed by debris.
In those early crucial days MidWest Missionair may be
the only way in and out. There are no airlines to
Greensburg, KS and it takes
over 5 hours of road time to drive
from eastern Kansas to Greensburg. MidWest Missionair gets workers there in 1 1/2 hours. In the case of Katrina, travel time door to
door to the Gulf Coast averaged: Driving
-
18 hr Airlines - 12 hr MidWest Missionair - 4 hr Cutting travel times means that more people
are free to go. And they have more
time to work while they are away. Because MidWest Missionair workers do not
draw any salary AND Thanks to your generous contributions: The cost of getting a volunteer to the
disaster site is about the same as it would be to fly by airlines |

Mike and
Tamara Kaltenbach were at home with their boys Garrett and Dylan as their
home disintegrated around them the night of the storm. Their home was a total
loss but they managed to acquire a property that was rebuildable and are
working to restore it. They had already redone most of the inside when this
MidWest Missionair team arrived to help. Mike was at work driving an oil
tanker and the two boys were with a friend.
Shown here is Tamara working with the team. Jason Wright and Luke
Falke worked on siding and paint. Larry Weber, Gordon Blackie and Don Thomas
of Methodist Disaster Relief worked on the electrical service entrance. The whole team is shown arriving at the Greensburg
airport in a plane donated by Dave Lybarger.
The
Kalenbach’s still need help with installing cabinets and plumbing. How about
you? Would you like to help? Let us know
if you can! |

Another Amazing Year!! |
|
A person standing alone
can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.
Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 2007 marks nine years of ministry. Each of those years has been different than
the last and each has been more amazing as we watch God work. The trend toward developing working
partnerships with other ministries has continued in 2007. We are now
supplying air transportation for. Heart-to-Heart,
Significant Matters, Reverb Community Church for their mission and
disaster relief projects and we continue to organize our own volunteers for
projects to share Christ’s love with those who are hurting. This years biggest effort was at
Greensburg, KS where 90% of the town was destroyed by an F5 tornado. At first we supplied air transportation for
Heart-To-Heart medical workers. We are
currently working through Methodist Disaster Relief to organize volunteers to
rebuild homes in Greensburg. |
